Missing persons identified through DNA
In the past two weeks forensic D.N.A specialists have successfully Identified three long term missing people in Ireland.
James Gallagher went missing in 1999. Remains found in 2002 have now been identified as James.
Margaret Glennon went missing in 1996. Remains found in 2014 have now been identified as Margaret.
Gussie Shanahan went missing in 2000. Remains found in 2001 have now been identified as Gussie.
It has taken many long years for news like this and hopefully the recent advances in DNA extraction will now bring some closure to other long term missing persons and their families. We would like to wish all the above families our deepest condolences at this time. May they rest in peace.
